Haugan

Located five miles from the Idaho border and halfway between Missoula and Spokane is Haugen, a community originally founded as a pusher station for trains making their way up the Coeur d'Alene Mountains. Today, Haugen and its surrounding areas have abundant outdoor activities such as big game hunting, hiking, fishing and horseback riding. Nearby is Savenac Nursery—a National Historic Site and former US Forest Service nursery used to produce seedlings for national forests—that welcomes visitors to explore its interpretive trails and learn about how trees from this ground have impacted forests throughout the nation.
