BiTTERRooT VaLLeY

THE BITTERROOT VALLEY is a healthy slice of everything you’re looking for in a Montana vacation. The high, jagged Bitterroots appeal to the landscape photographer in anyone. The Bitterroot River’s green riffles provide classic trout fishing. Hiking or horseback riding into the Bitterroot National Forest offers endless opportunities for discovery. Boating Lake Como beneath 10,000-foot peaks is a fun way to soak up the Rocky Mountain sun. And spotting birds of all kinds at the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge is easy on the disabled accessible trail.

Throughout the valley, you’ll find friendly, historic communities with plenty to see and do. Tour the Daly Mansion to see how the famous “Copper King” lived. Shop the historic downtowns of Stevensville,Victor, Corvallis, Hamilton and Darby. Pamper yourself with gourmet cuisine, fine B&Bs and an interesting mix of galleries and bookstores. Starting in late November, the Bitterroot Mountains get deep in snow, perfect for downhill and cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. For a special treat, reserve a Forest Service lookout cabin and feel the quiet awe of a Bitterroot winter.
