Is
it a four-season destination?
There was a time when Montana
had two visitor seasons —
summer and ski. With increased
awareness of the recreation
possibilities here, all that
has changed. Spring
in Glacier Country presents a remarkable value
for visitors, with discounted
rates for lodging, transportation
and equipment rental. Spring
is uncrowded and an ideal
time to see wildlife, birds
and blooming fauna. Summer is our busiest time of year
and still the ultimate vacation
season. Glacier Park and the
Going-to-the-Sun Road are
the major draws, but a close
second are watersports, cultural
events, golf and hiking in
the many mountain ranges.
In the fall,
Glacier Country offers tremendous
color, with aspens, cottonwoods
and tamaracks turning various
shades of gold. Visitors not
familiar with the tamarack
tree will be thrilled to see
a “pine” tree
changing colors. Temperatures
hover in the 60s and 70s,
perfect to accommodate romantic
getaways in the many lodges
and bed-and-breakfasts. Winter has it’s own unique
appeal, with six ski areas
and resorts, ranging from
local hills to world-class
destinations. Glacier National
Park takes on a whole new
hue in the colder months.
Blanketed in snow, the Park’s
quiet solitude is perfect
for snowshoers and cross-country
skiers looking to get away
from it all.
