Stevensville

With the founding of the St. Mary Mission in 1841, Stevensville became the first pioneer settlement in Montana. Today this quaint, quiet community is flanked by the Bitterroot and Sapphire mountains and its charming downtown offers plenty of opportunities to experience small-town hospitality. Located nearby is the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge has 2,800 acres along the Bitterroot River, with both wetlands and forested riverbottoms, making it a prime habitat for various types of wildlife, complete with walking trails. Experience its small town charm by attending an annual event, like the Scarecrow Festival.
