Wolverines are the largest land-dwelling species of the weasel family—and very elusive. With a stocky and muscular build, they are considered to be a carnivorous animal but may also feed on plants, berries and nuts. Their fur is long, dense and glossy brown, with stripes of dull yellow along its sides. An adult wolverine weighs 15 to 70 pounds and is about 2 to 3 three feet long and looks like a small bear. These animals are known to give off a strong, unpleasant odor and are considered to be very ferocious. For more, visit Montana Field Guide.
