POND SKIM – April 6th, 2024

Come and end the season with the best end of season throw down around!

Ski or Snowboard over a custom-built pond (costume mandatory) for a chance at a $1,500 Cash Purse.

The Pond is at the Lift Plaza, right by the bottom terminal of Chair One.

You must be 16 years old to participate. No exceptions.

Whitefish... you did so good last year! Not one snowball! Everybody loves the pond skim, and we all chipped in to make sure it keeps happening in the future.

NOTICE - THIS IS A FUN SPRINGTIME EVENT THAT CAN GET OUT OF HAND. WE NEED TO KEEP THIS EVENT FUN, BUT IT MUST BE SAFE FOR SPECTATORS AND PARTICIPANTS ALIKE. THIS IS A GREAT EVENT FOR THE WHITEFISH SKI COMMUNITY AND NEED THE HELP OF ALL SPECTATORS AND PARTICIPANTS TO DO TWO THINGS:

1 - DO NOT THROW SNOWBALLS

2 - HELP EDUCATE ANYONE THROWING SNOWBALLS THAT THE EVENT WILL BE STOPPED or CANCELLED. THAT AIN'T COOL.

THIS EVENT WILL BE STOPPED IF THERE ARE SNOWBALLS! PLEASE DO NOT BE A PART OF RUINING THIS WHITEFISH TRADITION.



REGISTRATION & FEES

Online pre-registration is required. Pre-register online before 7:00am on the day of the event.

- Single Event - $50

-You MUST wear a real costume or your entry will be refunded and we will take someone from the waiting list. If your costume does not look like a costume, your spot will be given to the person on the waiting list in the best costume.

-Even though you pre-register, you must check-in at 1:30pm at the bottom of Chair 1 on the day of the event to sign in and claim your t-shirt!

-Maximum of 60 skimmers. Sold out? Get your name on the waitlist HERE.



SCHEDULE

7:00am – Mandatory pre-registration closes

1:00pm-1:30pm – All participants at the pond / checked in at registration in costume.

2:00pm – Competitors meeting

2:45pm – Start Skimming!

Awards will be right after the final skim (about 4:30pm)



EVENT FORMAT

Round #1 - Everyone will try to skim across the pond. Those who make it across will advance to the next round.

Round #2 - Remaining skimmers go over jump before entering the pond. Those who make it across the pond after the obstacle will advance to the next round.

Round #3 - Remaining skimmers will enter the pond switch! Farthest skimmer is the winner.

Round #4 - Over the jump...switch.



RULES (Yes, it does have rules!)

-Participants must have skis or snowboards appropriately worn (normally mounted)

- Helmets required

-Costumes are required and will be judged in a category by itself. See below for costumes.

-Skimmers must start in the order determined by the starter.

-The Pond Skim is open to all competitors 16yrs and older.

-No one visibly drunk will be allowed to participate and no alcohol in the venue.

-Anyone throwing snowballs will not be allowed to participate.

AWARDS

To be held at the pond a few minutes after last skim at the pond. Cash Prizes for category winners, plus something for the overall champ as well.



COSTUMES

This is one of the most important parts of the event. Each competitor must wear one. Just a wig does not count! A silly t- shirt does not count.

You need to wear a costume. If you do not wear a real costume (something recognizable from a distance, hopefully funny and maybe some taste sprinkled with lacktherof) you will not be allowed to compete and you will not be refunded.

REGISTRATION

What do I do after I register?
Please double check your entry, make sure it is right. You will be emailed a confirmation/receipt.

I need to make a change to my registration!
Changing your category at registration is not an option. If the information provided is incorrect (you want to change divisions, for instance) you must re-register for the event with the correct information (name, date, age, gender, category, etc). This will require you to pay for a second entry while the refund is being processed. Please allow up to two weeks for refund of the incorrect entry to be processed. To request the refund, you must follow refund request steps listed above by the cutoff date for your event.



What are my responsibilities as a competitor?
Events are a group effort. It requires timeliness and accountability of not only the event staff, but of each competitor. There are many details each person is responsible for in order for us all to have a fun day on the snow. Making sure your information is accurate, you are on time and prepared for each event is required.

TRANSPORTATION, PARKING AND SHUTTLES

What are my transport options getting to the event and around the village?
The SNOW Bus will also operate between Whitefish and Whitefish Mountain Resort. A shuttle will operate in the upper village areas, and all parking lots will be open through the event. Please obey all parking signage and park as per normal.

Where do I Check-In?
Mandatory check-in at the Events Office in the Upper Village to confirm your spot, get some Monster, snag some stickers, and be an awesome competitor.

Are helmets required?
Helmets are required to participate in any event.

Inspection

You will only be allowed to visually inspect the pond and features prior to the event.

Competitor Meeting

Each event has details and information necessary for each participant to have a fun day. There will be a mandatory competitor meeting for each event, and the time of each meeting will be posted in the event schedule.

Where can I find results?
Results are available at the Awards Ceremony and at RESULTS.

Typically, they are posted a day or two after the event.

TICKET INFORMATION

Do WMR Employees / families receive a discount?

Yes, 50% off entry fees to all events for employees and their families when that employee qualifies for spouse and dependent passes. You will be asked during the registration process if you work for WMR and for what department you work for.

Discount Codes
If you are a sponsor or have a code to enter, please enter it at the top of the page where you choose your ticket.

Can I transfer my entry to my friend if I can’t make it to the event?
No. See refund information above. New registrations must be completed by the competitor / guardian. You can request a refund, and your friend should register independently.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
It is not required to print your ticket, but it can be helpful. If you intend on purchasing a discounted lift ticket, it is required.

REFUND INFORMATION

Things happen. We understand that sometimes people are unable to compete.

Entry fees are 100% refundable when contacted 48 hours before the event. Within 48 hours, at 50% refund will be issued if your space is able to be filled from the waitlist.

--Your Name, --which event you are requesting a refund and –Reason for the request (sick, out of town, injured, mistake, etc)

Refund requests sent to other points of contact will not be honored.
